Job Purpose
The Area Sales Manager is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a Medical Representative team to execute business plans effectively within the assigned territory. This role ensures strong territory performance, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration in alignment with portfolio and business unit strategies within the pharmaceutical industry.Key Responsibilities
Territory Management & Business Development
- Lead territory planning and execution to achieve or exceed sales and performance targets.
- Drive business growth by optimizing team productivity and ensuring effective field force execution.
- Ensure all territory activities are aligned with company strategy and business priorities.
- Maintain and validate customer database accuracy and relevance.
- Manage product-related activities in the assigned territory, including scientific and educational engagement.
- Develop and maintain strong healthcare networks and partnerships with key stakeholders.
People Management & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Medical Representatives to enhance selling skills, product knowledge, and territory management capabilities.
- Conduct regular field coaching and performance feedback to improve team effectiveness.
- Motivate and build a high-performance team culture with strong accountability and execution mindset.
- Supervise and ensure adherence to agreed working plans and performance standards.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective delivery of customer-focused initiatives.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Market Access, and Customer Engagement teams to maximize product performance.
- Participate in regional meetings, national conferences, and company events to support business alignment and knowledge sharing.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all sales and field activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Train and reinforce Code of Conduct and internal guidelines within the team.
- Monitor compliance in daily operations and ensure proper execution across the territory.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, or related healthcare/science disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales as a Medical Representative.
- At least 3–5 years of people management or team leadership experience.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, target-driven environment with high accountability.
- Good command of English and strong communication in Vietnamese.
